Using a Windows desktop shortcut

Creating a shortcut

To create a desktop shortcut to Arbor Finance (www.arbor-education.finance):

If you use more than one browser, it's convenient to specify which browser you want your shortcut to use for opening Arbor Finance. To do this, in step 2 below you'll need to know where your chosen browser is installed.

For Internet Explorer this is normally C:Program Files (x86)Internet Explorer for 64-bit computers, or C:Program FilesInternet Explorer for 32-bit computers.

For Chrome this is normally C:Program Files (x86)GoogleChromeApplication for 64-bit computers, or C:Program FilesGoogleChromeApplication for 32-bit computers.

For Firefox this is normally C:Program Files (x86)Mozilla Firefox for 64-bit computers, or C:Program FilesMozilla Firefox for 32-bit computers.

  1. Right-click the desktop and choose New, Shortcut. The Create Shortcut window is displayed. (To reveal the desktop background you may first need to minimise any open program windows.)

  1. If you want to specify a particular browser, click Browse and browse to the folder where your chosen browser is installed (see Note above). Select the executable file (e.g. chrome.exe) and click OK to return to the Create Shortcut window.

  2. In the Type the location of the item field, enter the URL address for Arbor Finance (not including the http:// or https:// part), at the end of the path you selected in step 2 and separated by a single space. For example, for Chrome, the completed line might be: "C:Program Files (x86)GoogleChromeApplicationchrome.exe" www.rmfinance.com

If you skipped step 2, there is no path in quotation marks, and the completed line would just be: www.rmfinance.com

  3. Click Next.

  4. In the Type a name for this shortcut field, enter a suitable name, e.g. Arbor Finance.

  5. Click Finish.
