This guidance is for schools migrating to Arbor Finance, supported by a partner/local authority team.
Each Local Authority supporting schools moving to Arbor Finance has a portal that their central team will use to securely send the necessary data to Arbor.
For those with a Support Partner, we'll send you a link during Week 4 of onboarding to securely upload your data.
This FAQ document will give you some more information on how to access and use your SUP.
When is my Migration and what do I need to prepare?
Your Migration will happen immediately after you have completed the month end processes and you have a full, complete, balanced set of figures for your migration month. Hosted by your local support team, full guidance is provided to run relevant reports from your current system and details can be found within our help centre guide here too. You will be guided on what data is transferred to the migration workbook. Data is checked and validated by you before it is transferred to your local support team or if you have been advised to send this directly to Arbor. This team will then manage the upload of data to the Secure Upload Portal for migration into your school’s Arbor Finance system.
What is the Secure Upload Portal?
The SUP allows central teams to securely send school financial migration data (your migration workbook) to Arbor Finance or if you have been advised it allows you to send your data directly to Arbor. Once data has been uploaded to the SUP, the school’s migration to Arbor Finance will begin, and once the migration is complete, the live Arbor Finance instance will be available to log in to.
Is uploading data via the Secure Upload Portal Safe?
Absolutely! Our secure upload portal has the same level of security as Arbor. This exceeds the industry standard and includes bank-grade encryption.
How will I know if I have to send the data to Arbor or if my Local central Finance team will do this?
Your LA or Support partner will advise you if you have to send your data directly to Arbor.

The week before your advised migration window
If we have to send the data to Arbor when do we get the Secure Upload Portal?
The week before your advised migration window. The project lead at your school will in week 4 an email from Arbor containing the a link to access your SUP.
Who is taking our backup (who is the data uploader)?
If you have received the SUP details and are not the Data Uploader or if someone else who will be supporting you with providing us with your data, please forward the email containing the SUP link onto the correct person.
The data uploader might be:
- Someone else in your team (e.g. IT)
- Your partner support (if you are partner supported)
- Your local authority (if so, please get in touch with them as soon as you can as they sometimes require you to book in a slot to provide this to you)
If you are not sure who your data uploader is:
- If you are supported by the LA or a Partner, please speak to them as they will be managing this for you.
Please note - once the data is uploaded, the migration process will begin. You cannot upload multiple different backups so you must agree who will upload the data.
IMPORTANT: After sending your data to Arbor, please email afmigration@arbor-education.com to confirm. We don't get automatic notifications, and we can't start your migration until we receive your confirmation email.
